Shared facilities

Being part of ICMAB, our research group has access to all the Scientific and Technical services of the Institute and those of the neighbouring institutes integrated within the Barcelona Nanocluster in Bellaterra (BNC-b), a research network that includes the UAB, the CSIC (ICMAB, IMB-CNM and ICN2) and IRTA, part of the UAB Research Park of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (PRUAB) and the ALBA Synchrotron.

The ICMAb scientific and techical services include: electron microscpy, low temperature and magnetometry, X-ray diffractometry, scanning probe microscopy, spectroscopic techniques, thermal analysis, thin films deposition (PLD and MBE). In addition, we have access to the NANOQUIM platform that offers five independent cleanroom facilities classified as ISO7, which corresponds to a Class 10,000 cleanroom according to FED STD 209E. These labs are equipped to develop different types of chemical and physical processes, like the physico-chemical synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials. Read more here.

Moreover, we routinely access the Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) and x-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2, read more here) and the wafer dicing service of the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM, read more here).
